Mid-Project Critique

Looking at my CryEngine model I have decided that I will change the colour scheme in which my model follows. I have looked at previous students work in order to gauge what colour schemes have been used in the past and what have not been ventured into.

Therefore I have decided that I will change my saturation on my model in order to firstly:

     - A saturated black and white colour scheme will help to emphasise and enhance the eeriness that my model possesses whilst it animates.

    - I want to be different / unique from other students models

Another thing that I am thinking of changing, is removing the water and adding a couple more lights underneath my model so that the viewer can see what is happening in its entirety. I feel that the water is an interesting feature as my model rises and subsides into the water on every scale, however removing it will express my model stronger which is the point of this project.

Model Version 5: Adding FlowGraph Rotation

I have begun to look at the flowgraph with regards to animating my model. I need quite a bit of work with the coding and how to use it properly through tutorials etc. but at this stage at least I have got something to animate which I suppose is the first step:

Model Version 4: Changing Light Colours and Adding Speedboat

So the first thing today looking at my model is that I do not like these colours either. Colour is really important for its aesthetic appeal so finding the right colourway is going to be a goal for me over the course of this project. I feel that this might be the right one for my model at this stage anyway..

Another thing that I have done in this version is adding the speedboat entity as I am thinking ahead so that one could drive the boat around and through my model while it can move or something along those lines. However I have struck a problem with the physics of the speedboat which is clear from my printscreens below - the boat does not stay on the water when AI/Physics is applied to my model. It bounces into the sky and continues to do this until it either explodes or sits above the water..

Anyway, these are some printscreens of this version:

The speedboat sitting on the water with no physics applied..
The speedboat flying into the air when it is applied..
Another angle whilst it is in the air..
On its way back down to the water..
The speedboat comes to rest sitting above the water as shown..
This is an issue that I will need to work out how to solve somehow as it is beginning to annoy me.

Model Version 3: Changing Time of Day and Lighting

I have decided that I do not like the colourscheme and lighting that is present in my previous version. Therefore I have decided to firstly change the time of day so that there is more emphasis on my model, and secondly change the lighting colours so that they are all the same colour.

These are printscreens of what this version looks like:

Model Version 2: Adding Lights and Trying Different Materials

As the title suggests, I have now added some lights into my model to not only try and create a cool look, but to create a new perspective and meaning to the model. I have made the lights very bright so that my model shines and takes the colour, then I have played with the model materials in order to manipulate how this effect is expressed.

The following are a few printscreens experimenting with this:

The next few printscreens are using a different material in order to make my model really take the colour from the lights as opposed to being very dark and shadowy like the previous experiment.
